About George A. Shimp II and Associates, Inc

Since its founding in 1974, George A. Shimp II and Associates, Inc. has been providing professional surveying services to the state of Florida. Based in Palm Harbor, on Florida’s west coast, we have made a commitment to excellence and staying on the cutting edge of survey technology. Our field crews, in addition to their collection of traditional land surveying equipment, currently utilize “Robotic Total Stations,” Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) GPS, and static GPS. Our expert draftsman utilizes Autocad/Softdesk to prepare our surveys to the highest standards.

On select projects, these tools give us a competitive edge by decreasing crew size while increasing productivity. While many of our clients aren’t familiar with the methods and equipment we use, most of them are impressed with the accuracy and quality of our final product.

However, owning the latest equipment and software does not guarantee results, which is why we have committed to staffing the best personnel available. We currently employ state board-certified registered land surveyors. Because we are a small corporation, this all but guarantees that a licensed land surveyor will be directly involved in almost every aspect of your project.

Although the majority of our work is performed in the Tampa Bay area, we are willing to survey anywhere in the state of Florida. Because of our company’s long history, we have amassed over 4 decades of our own private records, and centuries of public records. Over the years, we have also acquired the private records of several retired surveyors. Since our projects and records are well indexed and documented, we have access to historic surveys and maps which are not commonly available.

George A. Shimp II and Associates, Inc. is solely a land surveying business and does not perform engineering, architecture, or construction. This allows us to direct our complete attention towards the practice of land surveying. However, we do work closely with many excellent companies that can provide these additional services.
